Words & Birds at Leicester Cathedral

Words and Birds

A creative writing/ reading idea that combines art, imagination and storytelling at Leicester Cathedral!

During the session participants were asked to draw on their own reading skills.

All the participants started with a bird template which they were invited to decorate. Whilst decorating their birds the participants were encouraged to imagine and write down the stories the bird(s) might tell. For example, what is their name? Where were they going? Where had they been? What did they eat?

Once the stories were completed the participants were asked to fold the piece of paper into a concertina shape to become the birds wings.

All the birds created were positioned/ displayed in a storytelling tree for community members to read.
